Installation of Putty (SSH client; 8-29-05)
Prior to the Install
It must be OK for you to do
the installation on the machine of interest and you must be logged on with a
username that will permit you to do the installation.
No problems or difficulties
are anticipated. However prior to
installing any software it is a good idea to consider the following
question: Has the machine been recently
backed up and what would be the consequences if the machine became
unusable?
Also, it is recommended that you create a “restore point” prior to the
installation. In addition, it is
probably a good idea to reboot the system prior to installing the
software. This latter action helps to
verify that the system does not have some pre-existing problem that should be
dealt with first.
